MATT ZAFFINO, Chief Meteorologist, KGW
Matt Zaffino is currently Chief Meteorologist at KGW, and a beloved local figure. The Oregon Associated Press named him Best Weathercaster over 10 times. In 2000, 2015 and 2016 Matt won Emmy Awards for outstanding individual achievement in weathercasting and has been Emmy nominated several other times.
In 2016 he was inducted into the prestigious National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Silver Circle, for 25+ years of outstanding service in broadcasting in the Northwest.
DR. WILLIAM GALLUS, Tornado Expert
Dr. Gallus, a renowned tornado expert, will be delivering an exciting introduction to the film. His research interests primarily focus on improving the understanding and prediction of small-scale atmospheric phenomena, especially thunderstorms and their rainfall. In addition, his research delves into the morphological evolution of thunderstorms.
He is also exploring ways to better predict winds for wind energy purposes. Finally, his interest in severe storms includes using machine-learning techniques to improve the storm reports database for estimated severe wind speeds and examining the impacts of climate change on severe weather and flooding.
About the Film
