We are pleased to be hosting an intimate evening to listen and discuss the priorities and vision of Portland’s candidates for mayor in the upcoming November 2024 election.

The third candidate to grace our auditoriums will be Carmen Rubio on August 20th at 7:00pm. The entire hour-plus evening will be with a single candidate (Carmen) to engage and share with you her vision for Portland. We have previously hosted Keith Wilson and Rene Gonzalez. Liv Østhus is scheduled to appear on August 22nd. We have extended an invitation to Mingus Mapps’ campaign. If you wish to hear from any other mayoral candidates, please encourage them to reach out to us.

RSVP Registration Has Closed

If you previously have registered for Carmen’s evening, we have your information and we have a seat saved for you. If you did not RSVP, you are still welcome to come to the theater as there are still a couple of seats available. Please arrive by 6:50pm.

About Carmen Rubio

The granddaughter of immigrants who settled in Oregon more than 50 years ago, Carmen Rubio has built her career on service to Portland. She worked as a staffer at Multnomah County, then in City Hall, until 2009, when she was recruited to be the Executive Director of Latino Network. Over the next 12 years, Carmen grew the organization from a handful of employees struggling to meet the community’s needs to a team of nearly 200 providing critical education and support services that positively transform the lives of Portland’s Latinx youth and families in our community.

As a City Commissioner, Carmen has focused on improving access and quality in government for all of our communities – making Portland work for everyone. In just over three years, she’s made building affordable housing easier and faster, championed Portland Street Response, led the Council to unanimously pass her plan to fix our long-broken permitting system, and played a key role in persuading the police union to agree to body-worn cameras.  Under her management, the Portland Clean Energy Fund has made transformative investments to build our climate resilience and create good paying jobs.

A coalition-builder who’s passed bold reform by fighting to bring the right people to the table, Carmen knows that Portland’s best days are still ahead– and that solutions are within reach. As mayor, she’ll bring that same combination of vision, grit, commitment to service, and experience to lead Portland into a safe, vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous future.
